About Anthony

Hi, I’m Anthony, the proud owner and founder of this site! And I’m a homebrewer too!

My homebrewing story began what feels like a very long time ago – way back in ‘07 or ‘08 (I honestly can’t remember which). I was a young college student then, and the craft brewing scene was just about to start exploding. I remember that I had just discovered IPAs at the time, and was shocked to learn that there was more to beer than just Bud Light. I fell in love with craft beer immediately, and wanted more!

However, the grocery stores did not sell craft beer of any kind at the time. There was only one place I could find it in my college town, and it was expensive for a broke college student! So I jumped down the rabbit hole of homebrewing to figure out how to make craft beer at home for relatively cheap.

I found a local craft brewing store, brewed my first batch – an extract-based IPA, of course, using basically only the “equipment” that I already had in my college apartment kitchen – and from there, I was hooked! As with most things, there are periods where I find myself indulging in the hobby less, but overall, I’ve been brewing my own beer, mead, and wine ever since.

Despite the time that I’ve spent on the hobby, I still don’t know if I’d quite consider myself an expert. Until I decided to begin this website, much of my knowledge was based on the tribal knowledge shared on forums online. My brewing setup was still very basic. Part of the reason for this website is because I wanted to change that! I decided to dive deep into the hobby and learn how to level up my expertise – and document the knowledge and information in one easy place so that others can benefit from my efforts.

What You’ll Find on The Ultimate Homebrewer’s Guide

The goal for The Ultimate Homebrewer’s Guide is to be the ultimate resource for homebrewers of all kinds – from people interested in the hobby who have not yet taken the plunge, to more experienced brewers looking to branch out to new kinds of brews, to the veteran homebrewer wanting to learn the science behind the craft.

The site will be filled with articles not only documenting information that brewers are often searching for – about mashing or yeast management, for example – but also more in-depth research explaining the science of homebrewing.

We also plan to have an abundance of lengthy how-to articles and step-by-step guides for everything from your first beer to more complicated mashing techniques to provide homebrewers with something that’s incredibly easy to follow on brew day and beyond!

You can even find beer, mead, and wine recipes here!

My hope is to build the largest and most reliable collection of homebrewing information on the web, and to help you create the best beer, mead, and wine that you possibly can!
